Get ready for over the rode nostalgia

knytes scrolldaily breefs

This has taken nearly a millennia to occur, and while I’ spooked shyt less, I can say I’m not surprised. People change, organizations change, Change happens all the time. The erosion of our membership trying to hold onto just faded memories from an old TV show, that has very little of a possibility of being renewed or again redone into a TV series again, mean we’ve been mired in the past, and just holding onto a old concept. Let’s face it, the twin towers being attacked in 2000 9/11 to be exact, made all too many people stick their heads in the sand, pull their minds back into their shells, and say why even try? I read an article last night in the clubs email news update, about Social Security. Yes in 2017 there will be drastic cuts in the amounts that anybody gets, including us in the realm of disability and assistance payments. That $733.00 will go down I’ll bet my next tank of diesel will drop $50.00 or so. Meaning,$683.00 a month. That’s far to low to really live in any proper way. The alarm has went off, I need to do what I need to do to live better. More over the focus of our organizations needs to move from the enthusiasts sector to more of a service and even political sector. There’s an old adage, doing the same things, the same ways, but expecting different or improved results is a fool. Remember the mothership of the Knytes, Rode Knytes and Toew Bro’s is a split between a OTR truckers organization made up of the people that were part of the original Independent Truckers Association, of which Mike Parkhurst the original writer and publisher of the Original Overdrive magazine. The other Mothership is the United , Independent Toewing Association, both have just been knawing in the barn waiting for us renegades to hear the warriors call, and feel the spirit of getting off our butts.

I can remember the first meeting at the Skyview Trailer Park south of Twin Falls, when myself, Jeep, Rusty Nail, Lil Big John, and a few others crowded in their office club house there. I can remember too, when Big Mama, Tomato King, Wooden Duck and some more of the then, I-80 CB Club, met at that tiny Chinese Café of Buhl, Idaho and the building bricks of what has became the Knytes were laid. Back then we were all about grinding gears, diesel fumes being perfume and the big trophy was having the most powerful truck and/or CB radio. I remember our jamboree in 1975 at the Filer Fairgrounds, near Twin Falls Idaho, it wasn’t the Hazzard thing it was the trucking thang, and we all drank it in. We filled two towns with a sweltering 200,000 people for 4 days and 3 nights of gear grinding, beer drinking, truck and otr fun that has not been achieved since. I can also remember a few other things that we have not been thanked for involving that Hazzard/Dukes thing. We near single handedly flew to Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, and met with I can’t remember how many to get the flag put back on ye ole General Lee, did anybody say thank you? Did Alma or Ben write or call? Answer no. Ever since then its been us doing all the heavy lifting , but kudos? No. Has Tracey Duke ever said thank you on her Boars Nest Facebook page? Has anybody we all know on a personal basis from that show said howdy or sent a Christmas card since 1986 when the TV show blew off the tiny screen? No. Has anybody of those trying to preserve the Duke/Hazzard legacy, ever said thank you to us, for the millions of dollars we contributed to Gaylord Broadcasting in 1994 to get the then TNN aka Spike TV to put the reruns back on there, or the millions we spent with TV stations in our region to air the reruns when it first went syndicated? No. I’m tyred of just sitting in the back field in always reserve, and nobody ever saying thank you, or howdy. The Knytes High Council thinks this way too, and while not abandoning all things Hazzard County, we are backing away from the so much Dukes, and rebuilding a Hazzard County, originally called Shiloh County on the pilot movie Moonrunners. The lies that have been told, on the pilot movie Cooter was a skinny scoundrel that worked for the Boss, not helping the two moon runners. Likewise Ben played a revenuer on there, for him to get on E channel and say he was discovered by Gy Waldron is just that a lie. The entire thing should have stayed the way it was the series should have been The MoonRunners and left that cast in place. Not turn it into a comedy, for tv like it was. It lost a lot of its rebel spirit that made the pilot movie a hit. The original Boars Nest was a truck stop/brothel, not just some beer pool hall. They should have left the working girls in the movie and applied that in the TV series. Then there was the continuity screw ups that few saw, on TV but any Gearhead can tell you those Fury 3 police cars, became AMC Matador cars, the only reason I got into the show as deep as I did, was that it duplicated the lives of many of us in this organization that did what the so called Dukes, did only we did it all in real life on the back roads surrounding Hagerman, Jerome, Lincoln, and Twin Falls Counties of Idaho. The other reason we rather I got into the show is Skip Ward gave my 3rd cousin in real life Richie Montgomery a part on that show as the radio station DJ, (strange how that happened ain’t it?) Not as strange as ya’ll might think. That Western Wheels blue/red ball cap that Ben wore on the show was a gift from OUR club, but has anybody since then said thank you? Has any one of them including Ben and Alma or that Tracey Duke, ever called or written and requested we produce versions for sale of Hazzard County Radio? No they haven’t. Too much sacrifice, too much money spent on something that should we should have left years ago. Much more to relate tune in tonight to www.livestream.com/maximumoverdriveradio .

See ya’ll on the radio, stay tuned.
